Don’t Forget to Movember!

Don’t Forget to Movember

Men’s health, do we dare talk about it? As most of us men know, or think I should say, we are far too rough and tough to have any kind of health issues. And even if we did, we definitely don’t have time to sit down and talk to someone about them. That is the mindset of the modern man. We have been conditioned to place our own health issues aside so that we can be the provider, the protector. This is a major problem in today’s society on a global scale. Hopefully with increasing awareness, we can begin to curb this issue and get the positive results we’re looking for in the years ahead.

Well, it’s almost November and you know what that means. No not pumpkin spice everything…, seriously? Movember fellas, start growing those ‘staches! I love everything about the month of November; the long-anticipated snap into colder crisper weather, the great new microbrew creations that warm your belly, bonfires. There is one favorite of mine that happens every November and that is Movember. Movember is a movement encouraging men to grow mustaches throughout the month. Why you ask? AWARENESS! Let’s go over some men’s health facts:

Prostate cancer kills 45 men every hour.

By 2030 there’ll be 1.7 million men living with prostate cancer.

Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men under 40.

1 man in 20 diagnosed with testicular cancer won’t make it.

When it comes to men’s health and cancer, early detection is key. When detected early, prostate cancer survival rates are better than 98%. Find it late, and those survival rates drop below 26%. Men with undescended testes at birth, or who have a family history, like a father or brother who has had testicular cancer, are at an increased risk. This is why organizations like the Movember Foundation exist. We urge every man to show his support for men’s health awareness and early detection by growing out their mustache. It’s an amazing site seeing humanity pull together for a common cause.

Growing your mustache and getting the word out about men’s health awareness is a great thing to be a part of, but you can take it one step further. Head over to https://us.movember.com and see how you can help by donating or starting an awesome team of mustaches to get donations pouring in. While you are there being an awesome human, check out the moustachery (https://us.movember.com/get-involved/moustachery). It has some great guides on how to keep that wonderful fall lip foliage in pristine shape.

Now start growing out those beautiful mustaches and get the word out about men’s health awareness and early detection. With your help By 2030, we can reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%!!
